Man charged in ‘smash and grab’ burglary at KCK’s Frontier Justice

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A federal grand jury in Kansas City on Thursday returned an indictment charging a Kansas City, Kansas man with stealing firearms from a popular KCK gun store.

Patrick Montufar, 19, is charged with one count of burglary of a licensed firearms dealer, according to court documents.

Around midnight on October 24, 2023, Montufar allegedly stole nine pistols from Frontier Justice, a licensed gun dealer in KCK.

The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, who is investigating the case, says the suspect used a stolen car to smash through the front windows of the store.

Investigators shared photos with FOX4, back in November, captured by the store’s security cameras. It shows the suspect in a stolen Kia Sol after he’d rammed into the store’s glass front doors.

The ATF said the suspect stole nine guns. Court documents say the guns were a 7.62 caliber pistol, a 5.56 caliber pistol and seven 9mm pistols.

Jason Wagner, Frontier Justice’s president, said those guns were kept under several layers of security. Wagner said his stores have been broken into before, but this one is memorable.
