Man charged after shooting in Bristol, Va.

BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — A man is facing charges after a shooting in Bristol, Virginia sent one person to the hospital over the weekend, according to authorities.

Police responded to 450 Moore Street around 5:38 p.m. Sunday after resident Bert Dunn, 46, called 911 and reported that he had shot a woman, according to the Bristol, Virginia Police Department.

Officers arrived and found a woman with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. She was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover, according to police.

Police said Dunn told officers that he had shot the woman after an argument.

Dunn was charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless handling of a firearm.

He is being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail without bond, according to police.
