ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged a man on Thursday for a fatal shooting at a Jennings convenience store.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting occurred around 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, at the New York Market & Liquor convenience store, located in the 8700 block of Jennings Station Road.

Officers arrived to find a woman, later identified as Keila Buckner, suffering from a gunshot wound. Buckner was taken to a local hospital but later died. She was 25.

Police claim Buckner arrived at the store with Devin Macon after the two had agreed to exchange firearms and cash. The two entered the store and began talking in close proximity while holding their own gun.

At one point, police claim Macon went to hand cash to Buckner, but then went for her firearm. A struggle happened and Buckner’s gun went off and fell to the floor. Macon shot his gun and struck Buckner in the spine. Macon grabbed Buckner’s gun and fled.

Macon was arrested in a SWAT raid.

Prosecutors charged Macon with second-degree murder and stealing a firearm. He’s being held on a $750,000 cash-only bond.
