Man charged with attempted murder in Dillon shooting

DILLON, S.C. (WBTW) — A man was arrested on an attempted murder charge in connection with a shooting in Dillon that happened on Friday, police said.

Vernie Durand Blount was arrested Monday at a residence on E. Dargan Street, according to police. He was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The shooting happened on N. 9th Avenue on Friday, according to police. A man was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
