Man charged with attempted homicide after 2023 shooting on Murfreesboro Pike

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A 48-year-old man is being charged with attempted criminal homicide for his connection to a 2023 shooting that occurred on Murfreesboro Pike, officials said.

According to court documents, the shooting happened at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 10, 2023 at Larry Lounge’s located in the 2500 block of Murfreesboro Pike.

Officers said they responded to the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Lakevilla Drive and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He allegedly told them that he was shot at the lounge and that he knew who had shot him.

Due to the severity of his injuries, police said the victim was immediately taken to surgery, so an interview for additional information could not be conducted.

However, officers were able to speak to a witness who allegedly told them that he was riding in the passenger seat of the victim’s vehicle when they decided to pull into the parking lot of Larry’s Lounge after spotting a “large gathering.”

The witness reportedly told law enforcement that the driver got out of the vehicle and returned a few minutes later frantic and holding his side saying, “I’ve been shot.”

Authorities reported the witness said they pulled onto Murfreesboro Pike to flee the area and ended up crashing off the roadway.

Detectives said video footage was pulled of the incident, which showed the victim enter the parking lot, exit the vehicle with a cigarette in his hand, return a few minutes later holding his side, and quickly take off on Murfreesboro Road in his vehicle.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), detectives were able to interview the victim on Nov. 6, 2023 where he identified the shooter as 48-year-old Tallis Bonds.

Police said the victim positively identified Bonds through a photo lineup. At the time, the victim was allegedly unsure if he wanted to prosecute, but contacted officials on April 24, 2024 wanting to go forward with pressing charges, officials said.

Bonds was booked into Metro Jail on Monday, May 13. He was charged with attempted criminal homicide and remains jailed on a $350,000 bond.
