Man caught with gun, drugs while driving carjacked vehicle

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested Thursday after he was caught with a gun, drugs, and cash while driving a carjacked vehicle.

Metro police said officers found a 2017 Dodge Charger that was reportedly taken Monday during a carjacking. Officers followed the car to a convenience store in the 4100 block of Nolensville Pike where the driver, identified as 22-year-old Kelvin Ramirez, got out of the car and ran, but was quickly apprehended.

Officers searched the car and found a pistol, a ski mask, cocaine, marijuana, and $1,930 in cash, according to investigators.

Police said while Ramirez was being interviewed, he admitted to have sold drugs in the past.

Ramirez is charged with vehicle theft, evading arrest, unlawful weapon possession (he is not a legal resident of the U.S., according to police), possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, and felony cocaine and marijuana possession.
