Man burglarizes Texarkana business totaling nearly $8,000 in damages

TEXARKANA, Texas (KETK) — The Texarkana Police Department said a man has been arrested after breaking into a business causing nearly $8,000 in damages on Saturday night.

According to a release, police received a call of an alarm at a business in the 900 block of New Boston Road. When officers arrived, they noticed the front window had been busted and could reportedly hear glass breaking inside the business.

When officers spotted the suspect, his pockets were “loaded down with a bunch of items that were later learned to have come from the business.” Officials identified the man as Colton Lewellen, 27.

Officers also reportedly discovered busted shelves and threw glass items around the store totaling damages of about $7,500.

Lewellen was booked in the Bi-State Jail and charged with burglary of a building and criminal mischief. His bond was set at $45,000.
