Fatally struck man believed to be skateboarding identified

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man who was believed to be skateboarding is dead after being struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning on Niagara Street, Buffalo police officials announced.

Police said a white Dodge Durango was traveling south on Niagara Street near Fargo Avenue around 12:45 a.m. when it struck the “possible skateboarder.” The 21-year-old victim, Allen Ruiz, was declared deceased at the scene.

The Durango is alleged to have continued traveling on Niagara Street before it struck a parked vehicle, according to police. The driver then allegedly fled on foot.
