The Man Behind Manti Te'o's Fake Girlfriend Sounds Like He's Ready to Talk

We've all wanted to hear from Manti Te'o's other half—Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the alleged mastermind who conceived Te'o fake girlfriend Lennay Kekua, her fake fatal leukemia, and her fake car accident. According to Tuiasosopo's family, the hoaxer is ready to talk. "We want to do it right," Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, uncle of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, told the AP which adds that Tuiasosopo said that the "family plans to hold a meeting this week to determine when and how his nephew would talk about the bizarre prank" and that they've hired a lawyer.

Ronaiah Tuiasosopo was first pegged by Deadspin as the man behind the Manti Te'o's fake girlfriend, Lennay Kekua. And Ronaiah's odd connections to certain people like Diane O'Meara, the woman whose image was used to create Kekua, along with his friends and family talking to the press about his alleged confessions about involvement in the plot, have cemented his place in the scandal. Te'o himself even said that Ronaiah had apologized:

ESPN's Jeremy Schaap said Manti Te'o told him Ronaiah Tuiasosopo called him two days ago, confessed to hoax, and apologized.

But we've never actually heard from Ronaiah himself. And what we want to know from Ronaiah is if it was actually a hoax, and if Te'o is actually as naive as he says he is—even though there is evidence that Te'o actually went along with the lie after he was allegedly told it was a hoax. We want to see if all of this lines up and will be tuning in to see if anything Ronaiah says deviates from what Te'o told us.

Te'o has an interview lined up with Katie Couric that is set to air on Thursday. We hear Oprah's available.
