Man arrested after threatening people with hammer at Wilsonville Safeway, police say

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Taser was deployed on a man who was arrested at a Wilsonville grocery store on Monday after he allegedly threatened customers and employees with a hammer.

The Wilsonville Police Department said that 47-year-old David Lee Mangum entered the Safeway on Wilsonville Road at 6:38 p.m. and tried to attack multiple people with the hammer. Deputies assigned to the police department responded to the scene and initiated a standoff with the suspect inside the store.

“Deputies quickly entered the store and located the man in an aisle,” WPD said. “The man was not cooperative with the deputies’ commands, and continuously yelled at the deputies to kill him.”
