Man arrested after robbing bank on Garden of the Gods

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man has been arrested after robbing a bank on the west side and later being found with a backpack full of cash.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers responded shortly before 12:45 p.m. on Monday, April 22, after receiving calls and alarms from a bank in the 1200 block of Garden of the Gods Road, near the intersection with Centennial Boulevard.

CSPD said a person had robbed the bank and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No employees or customers of the bank were injured.

About an hour later, CSPD said its department received a call from a care center on Elkton Drive, near I-25 and Garden of the Gods, stating that the robbery suspect was at that location. When officers and detectives arrived, they identified Jeremiah Reggio as wearing the same clothes as the time of the robbery.

CSPD said Reggio surrendered a backpack with the stolen cash inside, and he was taken into custody without incident.
