Man arrested for punching 72-year-old woman in random Brooklyn attack

The assailant who punched a 72-year-old woman in the back of the head while she was walking in Brooklyn has been arrested for the attack, cops said Thursday.

Mouhamed Diallo, who police say is homeless, is charged with the assault on May 5 in Bay Ridge, which left the woman with bleeding and swelling to her head.

The victim was on 96th St. and Fourth Ave. at 4:50 p.m. when she was approached from behind and punched, which caused her to fall to the ground, police said. The assailant ran west on 97th St.

She was taken by EMS to Maimonides Hospital in stable condition, said police.

The incident echoes a recent spate of unprovoked attacks on women on city sidewalks this spring, with several of the victims reporting the assaults to their TikTok audiences.

The wave of attacks left women feeling on edge, even as arrests were made for many of the incidents.

In March, cops arrested Skiboky Stora, who they say assaulted TikTok infuencer Halley Kate Mcgookin in Chelsea at 10:20 a.m. on March 25. The following day Mallik Miah was arrested and charged with punchingTikToker Mikayla Toninato in Greenwich Village on March 25.

Daquan Armstead was arrested April 23 and charged with eight attacks on women from February through April, including punching comedian Sarah Suzuki Harvard on the Lower East Side March 19.

On May 7, a 69-year-old woman was punched in the face in an attack on the Upper East Side. The assailant has not been arrested.
