Man arrested for deadly Semmes crash tried to leave the country: Court documents

SEMMES, Ala. (WKRG) — The man arrested in connection with a Semmes crash that left a 19-year-old dead tried to leave the country before he was arrested, according to court documents.

29-year-old Antonio Antonio Rodas was arrested on May 8 on a murder charge for a crash that happened on April 28. 19-year-old Adam Luker was taken to the hospital after the crash and died on May 6.

According to documents, Rodas was deemed an “extreme flight risk” after he bought a plane ticket to South America. He was arrested after leaving the airport.

Court documents also said Rodas was driving 88 miles per hour when the crash occurred. A blood alcohol test showed Rodas’ alcohol level was three times over the legal limit.

In 2021, Rodas was charged with DUI after a crash, according to documents.

Due to Aniah’s Law, Rodas was not given a bond.

“Given the nature of the incident, his criminal history and the fact that Mr. Rodas is in this country illegally, we feel strongly that seeking Aniah’s Law is the appropriate course of action,” a Facebook post from the Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said.
