Man arrested in connection to woman’s body being found in burning West Virginia field

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (DC News Now) — An arrest has been made after a woman’s body was found in a burning field in Martinsburg.

Sheriff’s deputies say the suspect was identified was David Antonio Calderon from El Salvador. He was denied asylum in Canada and has made his way to the United States.

Domestic violence fatality sparks call to action, community awareness in Berkeley County

Law enforcement says video surveillance and GPS tracking helped lead them to Calderon.

“From the police here to the fire marshal to the medical examiner to the prosecuting attorney,” Berkeley County Sheriff, Rob Blair, said. “This is a great example of how law enforcement is supposed to work.”

Calderon was arrested in Virginia and is awaiting extradition to West Virginia.
