Man arrested in connection to Springfield bar shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in connection to a shooting earlier this month at a Springfield bar.

The shooting happened at The Cove on North Dirksen Parkway the morning of May 6. A bouncer was shot in the hip after he confronted people who were loitering in the parking lot; he was treated at the hospital and then released.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office investigated the shooting and from their investigation, the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Cody T. Desilva, a 29-year-old from Springfield. On Thursday, the a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force located Desilva at a motel in Troy, Ill. and arrested him.

Desilva is charged in Sangamon County with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a felon. He is also charged with other felonies in Madison County, where Troy is located. He remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
