Man arrested in connection to deadly Dillon County shooting, deputies say

DILLON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 63-year-old Summerton man was arrested Monday in connection to a deadly Dillon County shooting that occurred on Amherst Court on March 21, deputies said.

Through an investigation that required multiple agencies, deputies said they were able to identify and obtain arrest warrants for Monte Lee Armstrong.

Armstrong is being held at the Dillon County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

On March 21 at about 9:48 p.m., deputies said they were dispatched to Amherst Court, in reference to someone shot.

When deputies arrived, they found 38-year-old Quentin Stanford Berry shot and rendered, aid, but were unable to save his life. Deputies said Berry was involved in an altercation that led to the shooting.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and active, deputies said.
