Man arrested, Auburn Police say he robbed two Dollar Generals this week
AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) – Auburn Police have arrested 29-year-old Hamilton Ross Medley of Auburn in connection with two armed robberies at Dollar General stores this week.
The first robbery happened at the Dollar General on E. University Drive Sunday night. The second robbery occurred three days later on Wednesday, around 5:00 PM, at the Dollar General on 29 South. Fortunately, no one was injured in either incident.
In both robberies, the cashier reported a white male approached the register with a note demanding money, claiming he had a gun in his pocket. Surveillance footage released in the first robbery by police allegedly shows the suspect’s hand in his pocket and the note. The cashier, fearing the suspect was armed, handed over the cash in both incidents.
After the first robbery, witnesses saw the suspect driving away in a black vehicle, possibly a Chrysler. Following the second robbery, police were able to identify Medley as a potential suspect and execute a search warrant at a residence, leading to his arrest.
“During the execution of the search warrant, Medley was detained and evidence was discovered inside the residence that appeared to be related to the robbery,” said Assistant Chief Michael Harris in a statement.
Medley has been charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and is currently held at the Lee County Detention Facility.
