Man arrested for attempted robbery, shooting man in Bailey’s Crossroads

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A man was arrested after he attempted to rob someone and then shot them in Bailey’s Crossroads, police said.

On April 12 at around 5 a.m., Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) officers responded to the 3400 block of Lake Street in Bailey’s Crossroads.

FCPD said a man got out of his car when the suspect walked up to him. The suspect then took out a gun and demanded the man give him his personal property.

Police said “a struggle ensued,” and the victim ended up getting shot in the lower body. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police identified Abner Neftali Selen Barrera, of Del Ray, as the suspect. On Monday, the City of Alexandria Police Department arrested him.

Selen Barrera was charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and robbery.

He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and was being held without bond.
