Man arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting Lyft driver in Del City

DEL CITY, Okla. (KFOR) – The Del City Police Department said a convicted felon has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his Lyft driver.

Court documents said the case in question happened last Thursday night.

Documents said a 54-year-old Lyft driver picked up 20-year-old Andre Hunter in Oklahoma City.

The victim told police Hunter used a female’s profile and name to register for a ride in the app. The victim told police that was a common practice at time with the app.

Documents said Hunter requested the victim take him to a Del City address. When Hunter and the victim reached the location, documents said he moved behind her in the backseat; restraining her.

Documents said Hunter told the victim he would shoot her if she didn’t comply with his demands; before forcing her to drive to the High Spirits Park in Del City.

“He sexually assaulted her multiple times and then forced her back into the vehicle,” said Major Brad Cowden with the Del City Police Department.

News 4 visited the neighborhood near the park Monday and spoke with neighbors.

“That is just crazy,” said Charles Jandreay. “Might start staying awake a little bit longer.”

Jandreay said he didn’t see or hear anything the night of the alleged assault, but was thankful the suspect had been caught.

After the assault, court documents said Hunter drove the victim to a Northeast Oklahoma City neighborhood, where he dropped her off at a church in the neighborhood and took off in her car.
Police said the victim’s phone, still in her car, helped track him down.

“Utilized the Life360 app and determined that the vehicle was located on the campus of Langston University,” said Cowden.

Cowden said Hunter was arrested at Langston University and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.

Hunter is facing multiple charges including rape, robbery, kidnapping and forcible sodomy.

Hunter also has a lengthy rap sheet that includes domestic assault and battery, stealing and having a gun while on probation.
