Man arrested for allegedly running around airplane naked mid-flight, report says

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Usually the in-flight entertainment is a bit more PG than what passengers aboard a Virgin Australia flight reportedly experienced.

Flight VA696 from Perth to Melbourne was forced to turn back about an hour-and-a-half after take off, NBC News reported.

The reason for the return trip? A “disruptive passenger” allegedly ran through the plane naked, knocking a crew member to the floor.

FlightAware shows the flight, which left Perth around 7:21 p.m. AWST, returned to Perth around 9:57 p.m. the same day, listing the flight as “diverted.”

A Virgin Australia spokesperson told NBC News the passenger was handed over to the Australian Federal Police, who told NBC News that “officers arrested a man after he allegedly ran naked through the aircraft mid-flight and knocked a crew member to the floor.”

Police added the man was taken to a hospital for assessment after his arrest.

“We sincerely apologize to guests impacted,” the Virgin Australia spokesperson told NBC News.
