Man arrested for alleged possession of stolen vehicle in downtown Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Cameras were rolling Wednesday morning as a man was arrested for alleged possession of a stolen vehicle in downtown Bakersfield.

The incident occurred at around 8 a.m. in downtown at L and 22nd streets, near the KGET studios. Law enforcement including Bakersfield police and Kern County sheriff’s deputies could be seen taking a suspect into custody in the middle of the roadway on L Street.

Officer Tomas Martinez of the California Highway Patrol told 17 News a 24-year-old man was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and illegal weapons and drug possession charges.

Officials did not release other details about the incident.
