Man arrested, accused of fatally shooting girlfriend in Boutte

BOUTTE, La. (WGNO) — A 50-year-old man who’s accused of killing his 38-year-old girlfriend has been arrested, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they received a call around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15 from someone reporting gunshots and glass shattering in the area of Old Spanish Trail and Billings Lane.

Responding deputies said upon arrival, they were approached by a man identified as L.J. McCoy Jr., who led them to the victim, identified as Ashley Thomas.

Through an investigation, deputies determined McCoy was the suspect and arrested him. He was booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on a charge of second-degree murder.
