Man arrested for $2M in warrants in Visalia, police say

VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man has been arrested on suspicion of several warrants that amounted to over $1 million on Tuesday, the Visalia Police Department said.

Officers say their Narcotics Unit and Special Enforcement Unit have been actively investigating 33-year-old Christopher Sweeney for the past two months. The suspect was wanted on four warrants amounting to $2 million, including charges related to narcotics and weapons.

On Tuesday, detectives say they confirmed Sweeney’s presence at a home in the 300 block of South Summit Street. Given the seriousness of the warrants, the Visalia Police Department SWAT Team was deployed to assist in apprehending him.

At 2 p.m., police say SWAT officers conducted an operation that resulted in Sweeney’s successful apprehension, without any injuries to officers or the suspect. Sweeney will be booked for the outstanding warrants.
