Man arrested in 2 sexual assaults, but is tied to more victims in DFW, Atlanta, police say

A 25-year-old man arrested last month in connection with two sexual assaults may have assaulted other victims in North Texas and in Atlanta, police in Carrollton police said Wednesday.

On Feb. 11, police responded to a report of an assault after being contacted by a victim who was receiving treatment at a local hospital, according to the news release from Carrollton police.

The next day, Carlton Tambaoga, was arrested and charged with sexual assault, according to the release.

The investigation led detectives to identify another possible victim who Tambaoga is accused of assaulting on Feb. 13 and charged him with an additional count of sexual assault, police say.

Carrollton police charged Carlton Tambaoga with two counts of sexual assault, but they say he could be possibly tied to other victims in Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta, Georgia.

Tambaoga was tested for HIV and came out positive, according to the release. He remains in custody at the Denton County Jail.

While the investigation is ongoing, detectives have identified four other victims who had contact with Tambaoga, according to police. The investigation indicates the suspect may have sexually assaulted other people throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Houston, and Atlanta, Georgia, who have yet to come forward, police said in the news release.

Authorities are working to reach them as more evidence emerges in the ongoing investigation.

Carrollton police encourage victims to contact a local sexual assault program that offers confidential services, including counseling, advocacy, medical referrals, and legal assistance — if they have not yet filed a police report. Advocates can also be requested to accompany victims when reporting to a local police department.
