Man allegedly hits woman with hammer in Central Park; flees on motorcycle: NYPD

CENTRAL PARK, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man is accused of hitting a woman with a hammer in Central Park overnight Monday, according to the NYPD.

The attack happened near 64th Street and Center Drive around 12:09 a.m. A man on a motorcycle approached a 39-year-old woman in the park, according to authorities.

He then allegedly pushed her and struck her in the back with a hammer, police said.

EMS responded to the scene, according to authorities. Police believe the suspect fled westbound on 64th Street.
