Man allegedly causes stand-off, refuses to leave house

JERSEY SHORE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is being charged after police say he refused to leave his mother’s house and threatened to use a weapon leading to a stand-off.

On Wednesday around 11:45 a.m. offices were called to the 300 block Glover Street in Jersey Shore for a disturbance involving a mother and son, according to the Lycoming Regional Police.

Once on the scene officers said a woman claimed her front door was forced open by her son, Matthew Munro, 38, who was acting agitated.

The victim told police that Munro did not have permission to enter the home, that he had a substance abuse disorder, and was recently released from prison, as stated in the release.

Officers say they tried to make contact with Munro who then yelled at police “I have a service weapon, it’s a 9mm, it’s loaded, and I am going to unload it.” Police stated they made several attempts to get Munro to exit the home but he refused and screamed “(expletive) you, you can’t arrest me,” towards officers.

Eventually, around 1:30 p.m. officers were able to place Munro in custody and he was found to have a gun, a long rifle, and drug paraphernalia, investigators stated.

Munor has been charged with trespassing, mischief, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and possessing instruments of crime. He was denied bail and remains in the Lycoming County Prison.
