Man accused of sexually assaulting woman with blowtorch, Baton Rouge police say

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A man is facing multiple charges after being accused of holding a woman hostage and using a blowtorch as part of a sexual assault in Baton Rouge.

Jacob Woods, 27, was charged with false imprisonment, offender armed with dangerous weapon; third-degree rape; second-degree sexual battery; second-degree battery; battery of a dating partner; aggravated assault; and aggravated battery.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said a woman told investigators she was sexually assaulted after being held against her will.

Police said Woods believed the woman was involved in a relationship with another person after looking through her phone during a drive back from New Orleans on Sunday, April 7. Her phone and keys were taken after getting to his home on South 15th Street.

Woods is accused of forcing her to strip naked before choking her unconscious and sexually assaulting her with a blowtorch, BRPD spokesperson Sgt. Darren Ahmed said.

Ahmed said the blowtorch was ignited during the sexual assault.

Woods is accused of putting the blowtorch in the woman’s mouth after she regained consciousness before taking her to the bathroom and reportedly forcing her to eat feces and urine. He is also accused of taking out a knife and dragging it from her head to the center of her chest.

BRPD said the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Woods in Shreveport and he was extradited to Baton Rouge.

He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
