Man accused of robbing Largo bank, attempting to rob another

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was arrested after he allegedly robbed a PNC Bank in Largo less than two weeks after he tried to rob a Fifth Third Bank in the same area, according to the Largo Police Department.

Calvin Lockett, 53, tried to rob a Fifth Third Bank on Ulmerton Road on April 22, according to police. On May 3, he’s accused of passing a note to a teller demanding money at a PNC Bank, about a half mile down the road.

Police said Lockett got away from the PNC Bank with an undisclosed amount of money and was seen leaving the area on a bicycle. Surveillance video also showed a pickup truck with a trailer that eventually picked up Lockett and drove away.

The driver of the truck was identified as Brian Brown, 43, according to police. Brown’s home was searched on Sunday and police found evidence linking him to the robbery and numerous guns.

Brown was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm and principle to bank robbery, police said. Lockett turned himself in to police on Thursday. He’s charged with robbery and attempted robbery.
