Man accused of raping underage girl in Garden City, report says

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 19-year-old Greenville, South Carolina, man is accused of raping an underage girl, according to an arrest warrant obtained by News13.

Carmello Jahmez Huff was arrested on Thursday by Horry County police and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a charge of first-offense criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He was released Saturday on a $50,000 bond.

According to the warrant, Huff called the girl into a bedroom Wednesday at a location in Garden City where “two other males were present.” The door was closed and locked, and Huff allegedly removed the girl’s clothes and raped her after being told to stop.

Police were notified on Thursday and confronted Huff at the location where the assault occurred, according to an incident report. While police confronted Huff, other responding officers secured the premises and preserved evidence.

An officer called the underaged victim to get more details of the alleged rape, and she provided a detailed and accurate description of where the assault occurred, the report said. The investigation is being handled by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
