Man in his 60s dies after Donegal hit-and-run

A man has died following a hit-and-run in Clonmany, County Donegal, in the early hours of Sunday.

Gardaí (Irish police) said that at about 00:15, a pedestrian in his 60s was struck by a vehicle which then left the scene.

He was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

He died from his injuries on Wednesday evening and a post mortem examination is due to take place.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 30s, was later arrested and charged in relation to the incident.

He appeared before Letterkenny District Court on Monday evening.

Gardaí said they were continuing to investigate the crash.
