Man, 11-year-old girl injured in two separate shootings in Livingston Parish

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate overnight shootings.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to a shooting on Dubois Lane in Denham Springs around 8 p.m. Sheriff Jason Ard said a 43-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a local hospital. During the investigation, detectives learned the victim’s neighbor reportedly fired shots that struck the victim and his home. Police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two.

Royce Cash, 23, was arrested and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on charges of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Sheriff Ard said deputies responded to another shooting on Ed Brown Road in Tickfaw around 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found an 11-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, deputies say. Detectives learned that the 11-year-old was an innocent bystander who was struck in her home. Detectives believe at least three people were involved in the shooting as multiple casings were found on the scene.

On Monday, the sheriff’s office said the 11-year-old is still in critical condition but is currently stable.
