Mama Tosca, namesake of Bakersfield restaurant, dies at 98
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The namesake of Mama Tosca’s restaurant in the Marketplace has passed away.
Ms. Rienzo, known to many as ‘Mama,’ worked at the Italian restaurant Mama Tosca’s up until the age of 91. Her family announced her death on the restaurant’s Instagram page. She passed on March 7 at the age of 98.
Family said she loved to cook Neapolitan dishes. Although she didn’t have a culinary degree, she flexed her creativity in the kitchen.
Her funeral was held Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
