Almost everyone with a Netflix subscription (or who has a friend with a Netflix subscription) is obsessed with the docuseries Making A Murderer.

So after hearing that the show was renewed for a second season, people absolutely flipped. And understandably, might we add!

Making a Murderer fans are getting another reason to celebrate, though: this time in the form of a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode. That’s right, Olivia Benson and her officers are taking on Steven Avery’s case (kind of).

SVU finds a lot of inspiration in current events and news stories, so it’s no wonder that this hit-show spawned a mini spin-off. In the ep, SVU detectives will investigate the case of a man who’s been exonerated based on DNA evidence 16 years after his initial imprisonment after he becomes a suspect in a new murder. Sound familiar??

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Thomas will play the pseudo-Steven Avery while Kelli Williams takes on the role of the initial accuser from back in the day. Fin, Ice T’s character, was the original arresting officer — and gets drawn back into the drama after Thomas’s character is implicated in a second case.

Sounds pretty juicy to us, and definitely a good way to tide over MAM fans who are still eager to discover the season two premiere date.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to binge everything else on Netflix this month.
