‘Makes me a lot better’: New veterans clinic opens in Visalia
VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Veterans in the South Valley will now have access to better health care after the ribbon-cutting ceremony announcing the new Veteran’s Affairs of Central Californian’s state-of-the-art medical clinic in Visalia.
Claudia Solis with the VA says Friday’s ceremony is not just about opening the doors but opening better access to healthcare for local heroes.
“We’re here for you, you’ve earned these services you deserve these services and we hope you come for your healthcare,” Solis said.
The massive 23,000-square-foot clinic will replace the old veterans clinic in Tulare, which has become cramped and outdated.
The facility has 17 exam rooms where doctors will offer primary care, mental health services, and other basic health services for the first few months.
Before adding specialty care services like imagining, optometry, and physical therapy.
Stephen Seeser, a Vietnam War veteran, says it will be nice not to have to drive to Fresno to get the care he needs.
“I have to go to Tulare or I have to take and go to Fresno, They don’t have nothing over in the Tulare, I mean, there’s doctors there and this and that, but we can’t do any more than them. You know what they have over there? Okay. And it makes me a lot better because I live here myself,” said Seeser.
The clinic will officially be open for business on Monday morning.
