Several Iranian airports, including the capital's Imam Khomeini International, have suspended all flights until the morning of April 15 following Tehran's overnight drone and missile attack on Israel, Reuters reported on April 14, citing Iranian state media.

"All flights from Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport have been canceled until 6 a.m. (4:30 a.m. EET) following an announcement by Iran's Civil Aviation Organization," the airport's executive said.

According to Reuters, domestic flights from Tehran's Mehrabad airport and airports in Shiraz, Isfahan, Bushehr, Kerman, Ilam, and Sanandaj were also canceled until Monday morning, as Iran’s airspace in the western part of the country remains closed. Major airlines in the region also announced the cancellations or rerouting of some of their flights.

Earlier in the day, the Israel Airports Authority Israel reopened the country’s airspace after a seven-hour closure enforced by defense directives.

On the evening of April 13, Iran launched a major assault against Israel, firing some 170 drones and more than 150 cruise and ballistic missiles during a five-hour overnight operation.

The Israeli Air Force and its “partners” intercepted 99% of the Iranian weapons, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Two U.S. officials familiar with the situation told CNN that U.S. forces were also involved in repelling the attack, intercepting “more than 70 one-way attack drones and at least three ballistic missiles.”

The United Kingdom and France also assisted Tel Aviv in countering the unprecedented attack.

On April 14, U.S. President Joe Biden made it clear to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States will not participate in offensive operations against Iran.
