Magnitude 5.8 earthquake hits Nicaragua: USGS

(Reuters) - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 struck Nicaragua about 50 miles (80 km) southwest of Rivas on Tuesday, the United States Geological Survey said.

An initial alert from the USGS put the magnitude at 6.0 but it revised it some minutes later. It said the tremor had a depth of 24.4 miles (40 km).
