Magnitude 5.3 earthquake hits western Nicaragua: USGS

(Reuters) - An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 struck 29 km west southwest of the Nicaraguan city of Nagarote at a depth of 111 km, the U.S. Geological Survey reported on Wednesday. Nicaragua's disaster prevention agency said on Twitter that no damage was immediately reported, and that the quake had been felt in the cities of Leon and Chinandega as well as the capital, Managua.
