Magician David Blaine under investigation following London rape allegation

Magician David Blaine is under investigation by London authorities for a rape that allegedly took place in the summer of 2004, the Daily Beast reported on Thursday.

A woman named Natasha Prince reported the incident in November of 2016, more than a decade after she says Blaine raped her at a home in London's Chelsea neighborhood. She had just turned 21 at the time, and she had never spoken publicly about the experience until meeting with the Daily Beast.

Blaine, through his attorney, has denied these allegations. His attorney's full statement is included at the bottom of this article.

According to Prince, she and Blaine first met at a nightclub in Knightsbridge. "He was nice to me,” she said. “I’m not sure what was said, but I remember he was giving me a lot of attention. I’m thinking, ‘He’s famous; there are beautiful girls all around him.'"

The following day, Blaine allegedly texted to invite her to meet at a friend's place for drinks. They arrived at a "mansion" in Chelsea -- "there were electronic gates, and it really intimidated me. It was like an embassy, with 20 or 30 rooms, and I took an elevator up to the third or fourth floor.”

Blaine then allegedly retreated to the kitchen and made her a drink. Not long later, he allegedly asked if he could show her something in a bedroom, which she thought might be "a view or something." It was there that he allegedly told her, "Finish your drink" -- "and that's the last thing I remember."

Based on what she can remember, Prince believes that part of what transpired was anal sex. "I was limp, and I was very floaty; I was in and out of a deep sleep," she said.

It wasn't until years later, when Prince began meeting with a therapist, that she considered reporting the incident to authorities.

In September 2017, ten months after Prince went to the police, she was informed Scotland Yard had requested through Blaine's attorney that he come to the United Kingdom for an interview. His attorney, Marty Singer, has denied the allegations: "My client vehemently denies that he raped or sexually assaulted any woman, ever, and he specifically denies raping a woman in 2004. ” the statement said. A secondary statement clarified "this would include Natasha Prince."

Prince says that her reason for going public is because "I want him to know that I’m not stupid, and I know what happened.”
