Married at First Sight Australia star Timothy Smith has revealed he's seeing two therapists weekly now he's left the show.

The reality TV groom has shared he's started doing therapy in the aftermath of the dating show. Timothy starred on season 11 of the Aussie version and was matched with Lucinda Light and, though the couple went their separate ways before the final decisions, a reconciliation seemed possible during the reunion.

On the show, Timothy struggled to open up about some of his vulnerabilities with Lucinda, but it seems his time on MAFS has prompted him to ask for help to process some traumatic events.

"I'm in therapy now," he said on episode 383 of the So Dramatic! podcast. "I've got two therapists. One person can't take it all on."

Reflecting on his MAFS stint, Timothy said: "I open up a lot more about my issues [now]. And I had a few issues before going on the show."

Timothy had seen a therapist in the past "a few times" but it seems he hadn't "truly dealt with" with certain issues.

"If you haven't emotionally dealt with something, they'll find that out. It's not a bad thing… And it's spun me in a different direction," he said, crediting the dating experiment for his urge to work on his mental wellbeing.

"Now, I'm really digging deep," he said. "In today's world, a lot of us need it. Especially me."
