Madison family coping with deadly tornado four months later
MADISON, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tuesday marks four months since deadly tornados ripped through Middle Tennessee. Seven people lost their lives from Clarksville to Madison.
News 2 spoke to a family from Madison who said they are still coping with the trauma.
“To think that was once where we called home, felt safe,” Randall Butler said.

Butler, Crystal Dossett, and their three young children are now in a new home after their house on East Campbell Road was destroyed.
“It was a feeling, an uneasy feeling that I had, it was a calm demeanor in the midst of a tornado siren,” Butler said.
It was a last-minute decision. Butler said he brought his family to Walmart to take cover. “The only thing I can think is thank God we were not home.”
In video, you can see an explosion at the NES substation. The explosion was directly across the street from the family’s home. “If you look on the entirety of the road, all the houses on that side along with the NES substation was just torn apart,” Butler said.

Four months later, Butler said his family is still coping with the trauma.
“Any time it starts raining really hard I get more anxiety than anything else…It’s unbelievable. It feels like a lifetime away or it feels like it happened just yesterday.”
