Culinary Arts is a vital part of the school system’s curriculum. The subject helps empower high school students by giving them comprehensive skills, varying from food preparation and cooking techniques to presentation and service etiquette.

“Through this innovative garden project, students will cultivate a deeper connection with food, igniting their passion and paving the way for fulfilling careers in the culinary industry,” the press release said.

Several guests will attend the groundbreaking, like Senator Sam Givhan, Senator Steve Livingston, Madison County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon and Superintendant Ken Kubik.

During Monday’s ceremony, MCCTC Culinary students will break the ground. Watkins says that MCSS aims to have the gardens ready for full utilization by the beginning of the 2024-25 school year.

Harvested items not used in class will be donated to area food banks.
