Madera Speedway to open 2024 season of stock car racing

MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The 2024 MAVTV-televised stock car racing season arrives at Madera Speedway on Saturday night with a $5,000 prize for Madera SpeedFest Pro Late Models, officials announced.

The 100-lap Madera SpeedFest is run over a pair of 50-lap segments, with a break for adjustments.

The opening night will feature the first championship rounds of the season for the 51FIFTY Jr. Late Model Series, Mini Super Toyotas, and INEX Bandoleros.

Officials say Shelden Cooper of Clovis, who had a career season in 2023 with a victory in round eight of the series and a third-place finish in the championship, is one of the competitors looking for the $5,000 prize.

The youngest stock car drivers in the west will race in a 70-lap feature across a 40-lap opening segment and a 30-lap run to the finish.

The Mini Super Toyotas will compete in a 30-lap feature, according to organizers.

Madera Speedway will have plenty of cold drinks for sale along with a covered main grandstand for fans to enjoy, organizers said. The Madera Speedway is located at 1850 Cleveland Avenue.

Tickets will be sold at the track ticket booth. Adult tickets are $20, seniors are $25, youth ages six to 12 are $10, and kids five and under are free. Officials say race fans can also join www.YouTube.com/ShortTrackTV for $19.99 per month for a members-only live stream. Opening ceremonies are slated for 6 p.m.
