MADD and CDOT award officers at CMU

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Officers and agencies from across the Western Slope were awarded for their work in removing impaired drivers from Colorado roads.

Colorado Department of Transportation and Mothers Against Drunk Driving joined forces to recognize these officers.

Impaired Driving Coordinator for CDOT Brittney James tells WesternSlopeNow what it takes to win one of these awards.

“We are delivering six awards to law enforcement officers and law enforcement teams who display or have served exemplary service to their communities to remove impaired drivers from our roadways… and also raise awareness and educate communities on the dangers and risks of impaired driving, and also proper seatbelt usage and child car seat usage.”

A recent study found seatbelts save an estimated 225 lives in Colorado every year.
