Cojocari’s stepfather pleads not guilty to charges in Meck County courtroom

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The stepfather of missing Cornelius girl Madalina Cojocari was in court Friday for an arraignment.

Christopher Palmiter was in Mecklenburg County Superior Court for failure to report the disappearance of a child to law enforcement. He pleaded not guilty to the charge, according to the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office Friday afternoon.

Palmiter’s jury trial date is slated for May 20. In April, a grand jury gathered for the case.

Cornelius neighbors observe 13th birthday of missing girl Madalina Cojocari

Last week neighbors observed the 13th birthday of the missing girl. Cornelius Police officers read aloud birthday cards from the community to the small gathering.

Cojocari hasn’t been seen in public since Nov. 21, 2022, when she left the bus after a day at Bailey Middle School.
