'Mad Men' Season 6 Starts April 7 with a Double Dose of Don Draper

Time to start mixing Old Fashioneds: Mad Men is officially returning April 7. The season-six premiere—which should begin to resolve questions of Peggy's career, Don and Megan's marriage, and more—will be a two-hour affair like last season's opener. Creator Matthew Weiner told The New York Times's David Itzkoff that in constructing this season's start he wanted "to write a movie here." Weiner explained that AMC requested an extra-long time slot for the beginning of this season: "It worked well last year and they wanted to try it again. For me, I was like, well, I don’t have the same set of problems, but I do have a way to start the story with a movie. It has some cliffhanger elements to it, it does propel you into the rest of the season — it does foreshadow a lot what the season is about." We just hope it has another musical number.

Of course, despite the fact that Weiner gave multiple interviews upon news of the series' return, we don't actually know much about what's going to happen in it. The show has also had the habit of time traveling in between seasons, starting the next a few years after the end of the last. That said, Weiner won't budge on the matter of what year season six will take place in. He told Itzkoff: "It will advance in time, as it does." Last season took place in 1966 and 1967.

Given Weiner's spoiler-adverse nature we're not expecting to get much more before April, though we do know that something might bring Don and Megan to Hawaii
