Macon murder suspect facing drug and weapons charges

STARKVILLE – Domestic violence call leads to felony drug and weapons charges for Starkville man out on bond for a 2023 Macon homicide.

Starkville police responded Sunday May 12 to a reported domestic disturbance at the intersection of Louisville Street and Lynn Lane involving Maxie Chandler, 30, of Macon, and another individual. After diffusing the domestic situation, police charged Chandler with possession of weapon by a felon, trafficking a controlled substance, and two counts of possession of controlled substance. Officers initially responded to the report of a domestic disturbance at the intersection of Louisville Street and Lynn Lane involving Chandler and another individual.

Chandler was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail. At the time of this arrest, he was out on bond for 2023 murder and aggravated assault arrests and has previous possession of controlled substance convictions.

Last fall, Chandler was arrested by the Macon Police Department and charged with murder and aggravated assault in the connection with the fatal shooting of Michael Taylor, 32, and the shooting of Taylor’s 16-year-old brother.

The Nov. 4, 2023 shooting happened near the Noxubee County Courthouse on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
