Mac Miller has broken his silence on Ariana Grande’s whirlwind romance with Pete Davidson, admitting that he finds it “a bit strange”.

The pop superstar, 25, shocked fans by getting engaged to the SNL star less than a month after they started dating, and just a few months after ending her two-year relationship with Miller.

But it seems that Miller is “happy” for his former girlfriend, although he thinks that the whole thing is a bit odd.

“It's strange. Like, the whole thing is a little strange but it's not negative. It's just a part of something that's going to continue to help make me who I am,” Miller told Zane Lowe during an interview on Apple’s Beats 1.

“You know, it's all positive energy. I am happy for her and moving forward with her life just as I'm sure she is with me.”

Miller admitted that his relationship with Grande was “stressful” at times, made worse by the fact they were continually in the public eye.

“You know, that's the other thing is with the relationship thing is, like, the internet is wild. I kind of knew, but not really,” he said.

“Life is stressful. So, of course there were stressful times. It's not that unique. You know, like, I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years.

“We worked through good times, bad times, stress, and everything else. And then it came to an end and we both moved on. And it's that simple, you know.”

Grande recently described Miller as “one of my best friends and favourite people on the planet” in the wake of their split.

She wrote on Instagram: “I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us.”

She later described her relationship with Miller as "toxic" and said she was "not a babysitter or a mother" in response to a comment from a fan that their split was "heartbreaking", after he was reportedly arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Grande and Davidson have been very open with their love for each other, posting public displays of affection all over their social media accounts.
