Open Interest in Commodities Drops, Again

Open interest—the number of unsettled and active contracts trading on futures exchanges—in commodities continues to slump, says JPMorgan. Total open interest for commodities fell by more than $15 billion to $1.13 trillion for the week ended Friday, according to the bank's commodities research group. The decline totals about $82 billion in 2022. Open interest in energy commodities like crude oil and natural gas is at the lowest level in 10 months, while it is at a two-year low for base metals suc
