E-Commerce, Strong Margins Boost UPS

United Parcel Service (NYSE: UPS) today reported blowout second-quarter earnings fueled by strong e-commerce and healthcare demand. The shipping company saw volumes surge 20.9%, with domestic shipments up 22.8% and business-to-consumer deliveries up 65% in the U.S. Investors knew going in to expect volume increases as consumers were stuck at home and shopping online, but business-to-consumer shipping tends to be the least profitable portion of UPS' business.
