As the new US administration weighs its extraterrestrial options, a key figure will be Rep. Don Beyer, the Virginia Democrat who will chair the space policy subcommittee in the US House of Representatives. Beyer, the only certified mechanic in Congress and a science-fiction buff, will be tasked with enacting the annual legislation that lays out NASA priorities.
